ARMENIAN COFFEE
In Armenia, drinking cups of coffee with friends and family is both a national pastime and daily custom, usually set in the shade of a vine-trellised courtyard or at one of the many sidewalk cafes dotting tree-lined avenues. This coffee ritual, which can occur several times a day for some, is followed by a traditional "reading," where the finished cup is turned over onto a saucer and an expert soothsayer will parse the dried grounds for your fortune. This foretelling sometimes leads to further discussions and, frequently, another cup.
Napastäk's Armenian Coffee is made from our premium coffee beans, specifically roasted and ground for this fine style of Eastern coffee, known as "soorj" in Armenian. The super fine coffee is mixed directly with water, and the optional pinch of sugar, and heated over a direct flame in an Eastern coffee pot until it boils. The coffee should be served in a small 3 oz. demitasse cup and enjoyed right away. This process of brewing and serving coffee is a Middle Eastern and Levantine tradition that has been enjoyed within our families for generations.
